Perro Caliente
I was a little hesitant to do a pepto bismol pink hot dog background but it goes perfectly with the crazy Colombian fast food places I visited in Queens a few weeks ago. Sometimes when I paint these things I sort of forget I'm mixing gouache and not mayonnaise and mustard. Usually those turn out the best. New prints coming next week (including this one).
If you don't know, Colombian hot dogs are topped with crushed chips and all kind of crazy mess- pineapples, bacon, ham, cheese, fruit sauce, mayo, russian dressing, hard boiled eggs.

Sewer Bucks
Portland's mayor is taking money from water and sewer taxes to fund college scholarships. Somehow I've become the go-to illustrator for anything involving gushing and spurting fluids! For Willamette Week.

bacon wrapped dogs
Went with a looser style for last week's Hot Dog Of The Week illustration. The article was more of a recipe so I drew it basically the same as I would have in my notebooks back when I really worked in a kitchen, just without the grease stains.
Also cool to mix up the drawings with my photos.. check out the full article here.
From an old notebook... please excuse the spelling....
