Poster for tonight's Black Flag show at Union Transfer. A warbly copy of First Four Years dubbed over an old Trixter cassette pretty much got me through 10th grade. These are pretty damn big at 19" x 24" and only $20 for sale at the show tonight or at the PPG online store.

For a show of artists' versions of classic album covers, curated by Philly cartoonist / illustrator Box Brown at Record Lady, a great new (vinyl only!) record store in Fishtown.
After shooting down some ridiculous ideas (Franco-Japanese anime-basketball-core supergroup ROTNS?) I settled on drawing something I actually like.... I've put this album on many, many times to pump myself up to get to work and do something with my life.. and after all these years it still works.
If you're like me and missed the opening because it was pouring.. the show is up at Record Lady all month... with lots of other great stuff from Box, Josh Bayer, Rodger Binyone (of Phila Poster Guild), Pat Aulisio and a bunch of other Philly and non-Philly artists & cartoonists. Good stuff.
Logo for a new Willamette Week column about a dude that lives in his van. He recently quit his crappy coffeeshop job in Ohio, bought a van, drove it to Portland, and is going to live in it all summer.
They went with a slightly different logo w/ solid lettering. The column is going to appear 2 or 3 times a week on the website with highlights in the paper. You might roll your eyes at "coffeeshop guy living in a van in Portland" but hell he's really doing it, and I'm definitely excited to check it out every week.
Also it was just kind of awesome to have an excuse to draw metal lettering and Uncle Rico vans.

I got a little carried away with the "painted ladies" in the first sketch, especially with my instinct being to always jam as much detail into everything as possible.
Illo for a sports blog that was never published, from a few years ago. Cliff Lee who was briefly with the Phillies before being traded or whatever (this is possibly why this was never used?)
Anyway if you know me you know that I don't really follow sports other than the wing bowl.. but have found myself really into drawing them. Logos, shitty fans, crazy facial hair, cheese fries, tattoos.. plenty of good stuff to draw.
The sports portion of the Pizza Brain mural was particularly awesome to draw.. lots of Sixers, mascots, Lenny Dysktra and Bobby Clarke.
